 THE SENIORS DAY OUT STORY

SDO was founded in May 2021 by Kayleen Martin, the Founding Director of Ripple Recruitment Ltd, after a senior friend shared how lonely she felt when her daughter moved away from the Hibiscus Coast.

Kayleen has always been concerned about the loneliness that many seniors experience, and reached out to The Salvation Army Hibiscus Coast for help in turning her vision for SDO into a reality. In a generous gesture, they offered to hire their van for the group’s monthly outings, making it possible for members to travel together.

Each month, Kayleen plans a unique event, usually within a 15-60 minute drive of the Hibiscus Coast. Previous events have included visits to museums, art galleries, gardens, movies, exhibitions, garden centress, op shopping, and theater productions.

Most events also feature a relaxed café lunch experience, ensuring the day is fun and well rounded for all travellers.

SDO typically travels on the 2nd Wednesday of each month and details can be viewed Ripple’s EVENTS page.
