Do You Need a Recruitment Agent or Talent Agent?

It is unlikely you have experience with a Career Talent Agent because we may well be the only provider of this service in New Zealand but there is a distinct difference between the purpose of a recruitment agent and that of a career talent agent and it is that they are working on behalf of different clients, but these clients are not opposing in fact both agents are working towards the same goal of introducing compatible employers and employees. RIPPLE provides both services so I can provide you with some clarity around how each of them operates.

Our recruitment service works on behalf of our business clients finding them suitable applicants for vacancies in their companies and acting as the facilitator of the recruitment process. In exchange for these services, we agree with our clients on a commission which is typically between 10% and 17.5% of the position’s gross annual remuneration.

We start acting for our clients by taking a vacancy brief and then moving onto composing and posting a vacancy advertisement designed to attract as many suitable applicants as possible. The advertisement is then in the print and digital channels that will reach these applicants. The next phase is to review all applicants and effectively put them into 3 categories of suitability No, Maybe (Long List) and Yes (Short List).

From there our successful applicants become our candidates and are screened further to identify the most suitable prospects who then become our interviewees. After our interview process, we will know the candidates that are the best fit for our clients and their teams, and they will be scheduled to meet with our client to undergo their interview processes.

As the recruitment agent we are also responsible for verifying all the information declared by our candidates and for carrying out any competency testing and screening required by our clients. In some instances, our clients also request that we negotiate an employment offer and its terms on their behalf.

Conversely with our career talent agent hat on we work on behalf of our job/opportunity seeker clients and we do this for an agreed fee which includes a success fee component based on ‘no success no success fee’.

We start this relationship by having an intimate conversation with you to understand where you have been, what your employee value proposition is (EVP) and where you aspire to go to.

Together we will identify desirable opportunities for you and then we will promote and champion you to the decision makers who may be able to consider you such an opportunity.

Our objective is to identify a match for you and the potential employer and then secure an interview for you which you can then work to convert to an employment opportunity.
