Seven Outcomes From Strategic Leadership

Only 40% of leaders have the skillset of strategic leadership leaving 60% of our leaders 50% less productive and effective than those that do which highlights a critical need for businesses to invest in the ongoing growth and development of their leaders.

Leadership is the art of motivating a group of people toward achieving a common goal.  In the workplace, this is the act of directing workers with a strategy to meet the company's needs which usually means providing better quality goods and services than competitors or providing them more cheaply and generating more sales or superior profit margins.

There are 7 great outcomes from great strategic leadership:

1. Inspired commitment – leading people to engage and commit to outcomes with enthusiasm and tenacity in a co-supportive way .

2. Guided support – travelling alongside workers and supporting them as they deliver on the business’s expectations

3. Strategic mapping - translating the company vision into doable acts and outcomes making the vision achievable and intentional.

4. Change management and back up – change is difficult for most is often met with resistance, but it can be managed effectively when a leader has established trust with workers and is genuinely working in the best interests of all stake holders.

5. Employee growth – employee development is for the betterment of the worker, helping them achieve their personal goals and is to the benefit of the business as the value of an employee’s contribution increases.

6. Self-awareness intelligence – is about identifying our limitations as leaders and workers and feeling assured enough to openly admit our shortcomings with a willingness to take responsibility.

7. Leadership growth – leadership roles require an understanding that there is a perpetual need for a continuous pathway of growth and development, never losing sight of opportunities to learn.

Being a leader is not easy and it’s not for everyone and being a great strategic leader reflects your ability to influence rather than rule from a position of power or authority.  It requires a spirit of fairness, courage, and the ability to build trust.
